Health Care Money Used to Bully Seniors
Throughout history, there has been a disturbing trend, that has re-emerged and is seriously affecting our society today … FOLLOW THE MONEY … Many people feel empowered when they have money or are tempted to make more. This power often takes the form of narcissistic, sociopathic actions with no conscience about who it hurts, or the damage is can cause to our life support systems.

Debbie’s husband Vern has been detained in Eagle Park Institution in Qualicum Beach, BC for almost two years. Her visits with Vern have been very restricted to less than one hour per week; the reasons for the restrictions are unclear. Vern’s health and well-being are dependent on love, companionship and mental stimulation, which he is not receiving without her visits.
Eileen is Living in Fear
I was on the phone with Eileen. We had been singing with Barbara Streisand on YouTube, and I was reading to her, from our life story book 26,000 Days; when a serious incident occurred in Eileen’s room. She was assaulted by two male residents; I heard the incident on the phone but obviously could do nothing to help her. Eileen was screaming and in obvious distress, I could hear what sounded like aggressive physical interaction and a loud yell as Eileen was hurt. After a about three minutes, I did get my audio recorder working and recorded the very last part of the assault.

Eileen’s story raises concerns
Dear Editor,
Girl and Boy Scouts pledge to help other people at all times and to do a good turn every day. In a 1908 original text, it was suggested that one of such things might be “to help an old woman cross the street”. Over time facetious urban legends popped up about the old woman who didn’t want to cross the street, but was physically carried across by a strong individual regardless. There is some humor in that story, but it is not very funny in the case of Eileen Wicks who was similarly carried against her wishes from a free, healthy and happy life, to miserable incarceration in a cheerless institution by very powerful Orwellian forces. It’s for her own good, is it?
I Love You Eileen
My Darling Eileen, I'm so sorry that you are locked in that place, when we should be together free and happy, enjoying our retirement. I am very proud of you for being so strong and courageous, after all you have been through.
Seniors Afraid of Health Authority
The following letter was distributed in our community, addressing our MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) in British Columbia, Canada.
Mr. Walker,
Thank you for the interesting post card that we received a few days ago with a list of very important projects you have supported or initiated over the past few years in our communities. It brought to mind the question as to what has happened with the health care detention of Ms. Eileen Wicks. In my mind, having known Eileen for almost 25 years, there is absolutely no reason why she has been detained in Island Health facilities for fast approaching three years.

Investigate Seniors Care
Many individuals are requesting an investigation into the operation of Eagle Park Care Facility, located at 777 Jones Street in Qualicum Beach, B C. Canada.
Two independent ratings of Eagle Park:
“Just horrible, often found him soaking wet and dirty. He was kept in his bed for hours. I personally felt bullied by staff. Another woman I know well felt so bullied that her husband said it was not worth her mental health to visit her loved one. I understand it has had some improvements since my experience. I hope so.” — January 27, 2022
