Airborne Tree or Plant Seedling Planting System: APS-8
Multiple water filled cones with seedlings and nutrient inside are dropped from a helicopter or airplane, the shape and weight of the cones cause the units to impact the ground with sufficient force to drive the seedlings into the topsoil.
The cones are dropped from 300 meters + impacting the ground at + - 150 kph.
The impact drives the cone into the soil and the seeding plug into the base of the cone'
Nutrient tipped cone
The cones are made up of several materials that include a waterproof liner, organic hollow cone, hardened nutrient tip and an organic plant stability cushion. Tree, plant seedlings or seeds are pre-loaded into the multiple cone trays, the trays can be stacked and have a release mechanism to allow rapid deployment to distribute the plants over a large area of land. Upon impact the cone is driven into the ground, the outer cone bursts and the plant plug in water saturated fibre is implanted within the cones top section. The proportion of plants that hit an impenetrable surface could survive for random hand planting at a later date.
I am aware that dropping seedlings from the air has been tried before. My concept is somewhat unique and could be adapted to suit specific situations.
